2009 - A roadmap for the Global Taxonomy Partnership

The interim steering committee of the Global Taxonomy Partnership suggested that two complementary approaches to fundraising be explored: (a) development of an “internet-based fundraising campaign, where the vast interest of people in discovery and conservation around the world can be tapped into” (p.8, White Paper) in parallel with (b) “corporate sponsorship from industries which need taxonomic services” (p.8, White Paper) which will also help support early development phases of the sustainable core of the project.

Following these general approaches, Marc Le Menestrel and Julian Rode of the Foundation for a New Ethical Business have been helping to develop a concept with which a fund-raising campaign for the Global Taxonomy Partnership can be made operational.
