In the context of the 2008 German CBD presidency the German Ministry of the Environment founded the "Biodiversity in Good Company" Business and Biodiversity Initiative which is now operated by the German Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ). The initiative has already engaged more than 40 companies who have signed the Leadership Declaration that envisages the integration of biodiversity into entrepreneurial action and management systems.
