Abstract

This report identifies the extent to which common economic valuation techniques of biodiversity and ecosystem services are applicable and relevant for business, in particular as tools for business planning and management to improve financial performance and profits. Benchmarking with studies and methods applied by the public sector, the study finds little documentation on ecosystem valuation for and by business. It calls for more case studies and novel valuation techniques within a comprehensive WBCSD Ecosystem Valuation Initiative.
